True. Our Star is middle aged. It cannot last forever (probably longer than 2012 though!). Earth will not be a pretty place when the Sun is in its final stages.

It doesn't really matter.... by 2012 the earth will be completely uninhabitable due to global warming. Humans face complete extinction in the coming years, possibly months!
Bacteria can multiply until they begin dying out in their own wastes. Are we much different? Let's face it-humans are successful at what they like to do and having sex and multiplying is what they like to do. I like Isaac Asimov's view of the human race. He said humans are the cancer of the universe. At this time the cancer is localized in a single organ-Earth, but it will eventually spread throughout the body-universe. We consume resources at a fast pace. When we do make it off Earth and if we ever encounter other life forms- humans will have just two questions: 1. Can we eat them? 2. Can we make clothes out of their hides. I am not trying to be mean about humans-I like them.
So are you going to leave when the Dolphins depart? (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) As an alien, you may have more options than that. I've seen Men in Black. I know you types have ....options.

Really, the Mayan calendar ends because they just didn't write it out any further, and their civilization crashed and boomed before they could add any more. Not because they thought the world was going to end. The other Mayan misconception I would like to clear up is that real mayan women weren't naked latina hotties like in the movie "Apoctalypto". No tribal women are. Sorry to dissapoint...

Do you beleive? Im not looking to argue with anyone just seeing if people beleive in it. The fact is their are many people who predicted the year 2012 as the final year. I am not saying to beleive just to research because knowledge is power.

Knowing what I know in regard to other cultures, such as the Native American culture, they hold a higher regard to nature/life/world and have this almost magical way of seeing/predicting things and just knowing things that the ordinary man doesn't. If you've ever been to a pow wow, you 'get it', and it is amazing (it was part of a college assignment several years ago, and since then I've been intrigued by the culture). Those people are so intertwined with the world around them that it is amazing. I could see how they could know things we don't, such as 'the end.'
Ok, I have to strongly disagree. Ooooh, go to a pow wow for college credit. Yeah, whatever. I am that culture, and spent time on reservations. They are not more attuned, really. 80% alchoholic, maybe they're just seeing double. The Lakota used to heard buffalos over cliffs, kill whole heards. Left massive trash dumps around the continent. Brutally waged war, just like the Europeans, with less success, only because they did'nt have the technology.
The only thing cool about pow wows, are Indian tacos. Pows wows, real ones, not the hippies sponsered Cali types, are a bunch of people sitting in silence. They are a bit shy, which gives them the mystical rep. I guess Swedes are mystics too. As for 2012, they wrote their calender on stone, they just ran out of carving space.
