That's pretty messed up. You did the right thing, though. Chances are that he won't be back, but it may be a good idea to stash a game camera in a nearby tree. They are pretty cheap and VERY effective against things like this, as long as he can't reach it.

Two weeks ago, after taking her puppy outide to pee in the middle of the night, my daughter was standing inside petting her cat when someone put a laser tag on her chest, through the sliding glass door from the same dark corner of the yard. She ran to her room and locked the door but didn't tell us until the next morning. At the time is was dismissed as some kid playing a prank, but the Sheriffs office and us are now concerned that this is part of a long-term stalking.
We will be taking extra precautions from now on. She is not allowed outside after dark without one of us. Wife is going to be carrying our .38 and I'm going to keep my 9mm XD very close. We only moved in here in September and haven't put a fence around back yard yet, that is now #1 priority.

That would concern me as well.. Anything short of "bad" and he would have ran right off.. The last case I know of around here was the guy that had ran a kid/guy off for seeing his daughter. Not suggesting that was what heppened here, only the last similar shooting that I know of. He was running through the back yard and the guy shoots at him. He doesn't think he hit him or anything, but they find the kid/guy dead in the yard next door. About a year later, after a year in court, dude get's convicted and goes to jail. Odds are that if you shoot someone around here, for most any reason, it won't be a happy time for anyone. If he's running away and/or unarmed, it's even worse. I'm thinking taser, bear spray or bean bags in the 1100, might be an idea.. Ron

Knowing this just makes me believe the little bastige deserves to be shot. Who knows whether the laser was from a laser pointer or a gun. Be careful out there....and kick his farging arse!!!

That's very disturbing.. My brother had a close call when his daughter was a teenager and living at home. I won't go into the details, but it ended with him in the driveway holding his 44 to a guys head.. I hope you and your family get some relief. Ron

Skorp this is total BS man. My daughter is 6 and I can't imagine that I am gonna be going through this in 10 years.
It sounds like your Sheriff is being pretty helpful. Have you guys discussed a plan going forward? It sounds to me that the communication so far has been so good that if you guys call in to announce a body in the back yard there won't be much of a hassle.
