Repair in progress (not really for thne faint of heart)

Since I have them and I keep getting the standard "what happened" PM here are some pics;

First, what happened;

I took my Brand new KTM 530 EXCR out for a spin, it was a bit wet but we were just riding roads so after a few laps up and down it started raining that not quite hail, not snow but definitely not rain that stings more the faster you go. So we decided to had on back a pack it up for the day. I'm going downhill into a right 180 turn breaking, a little power slide, nothing unusual. I get set up to slide through the turn and BAM! I clipped a rock with my little toe on the right foot which brought the toe all the way back to my calf, in hard boots no less.

I rolled around on the ground a bit, had my buddy help me to my feet, checked the bike. Two little scrapes, not surprising since I was only doing about 20-25. Got back on the bike and rode it back to the trailer figuring I got a really bad sprain. Loaded the bikes up and drove home. Now for the worst part - taking the boot off.

Two days after it happened;

Now I'm thinking I better go get some x-rays taken. So I went to my Doc he zaps a few and says it looks like I may have a crack in my lower fibula (small bone on the outside of the leg) and says I need to go see and orthopedic specialist. A week later I'm at the bone and joint place and the doc takes one looks at the x-rays and says "that's an old healed wound, we need to take some more x-rays because this damage does not fit the mechanism (how it happened )you described."

So I get some more films done and I'm sitting back in the exam room as he walks in holding up the film of my tib-fib area. I can see it plane as day before he ever says anything and before he says anything I look at the x-ray and say "****". Plain as day the fibula is snapped about midway up. I still have to get a copy of that film.

So now I have to have surgery to screw the fibula to the tibia so they will heal correctly

I was on the table for a whole 29 minutes with a spinal, watching the whole process and even picking out the pics I want

Here is the doc drilling the holes for the screws;

And both screws installed;

So now I'm stuck gimping around for the next freaking 3 months 8 weeks with the no weight on the foot, start rehab at 8 weeks and the screws come out at 10 weeks and then more rehab.

Spring is going to SUCK

The worst part about it is I have a brand new bike sitting in the garage collecting dust

Man that sucks. I cringed just looking at those pics. Hope you heal up fast and okay. Take advantage of the down time and get everyone to fetch stuff for you. Milk-her.

Well heal up and get back on that horse. Glad that's all that happened to you. Let it heal properly other wise it will just keep coming back to haunt you. Good luck Brother and the bike will still be there for you when all is said and done.

Your lucky it is only 2 screws. My wife broke her ankle, plate and 8 screws.

Good luck with your recovery!

Yeah a friend of mine wasn't watching where he was walking on the flight deck (20+ years ago), stepped in a tow bar and ended up with the same configuration as your wife.

It's not a bad break, but its not a simple break either.

This too shall pass.....

That's a sissy injury! Here's my shoulder after a little "get-off" from my G650X last year:
My intention was not to get into some phallic pissing contest but to explain to a number of members asking why I can't go on runs or participate in other activities so I don't have to repeat myself time after time. So let's just forgo the counterproductive insults shall we?
