Shoulder Surgery is Killing Me!

Had shoulder surgery (L SLAP repair) last week Wednesday and am not allowed to drive for 2 very long weeks! I can only deal with so much discovery channel and am about to loose my mind!

Dont have a good surgery story unless you count trying to teach my doctor EKG basics or disassembling my post-op file while in the recovery room and trying to take a copy of my pictures!

Any suggestions to pass the time while I am not allowed do anything?

ah man sorry to hear... I just had surgery on my ankle not to long ago... you forget how much you use something until you can't. Play on the net.. take lots of meds..drink lots of water. The hubby is due to get surgery on both shoulders soon too... we'll never be prepared..

Re: Shoulder Surgery is Killing Me!

don't do what I did and get fat while you're in that sling! I had to be in mine for 8 weeks. Makes everything miserable. I feel your pain!

Re: Shoulder Surgery is Killing Me!

LOL, I can honestly say I understand what you are going through.

I had back surgery this past July and was under house arrest for weeks. It was over 2 months before I returned to work. I can't stress enought...do what the doctor tells you. I tried to push it and found that my recovery was delayed a couple extra weeks.

I purchased a laptop just for my recovery time. I was not allowed to sit in a chair for two weeks. I had to stay in bed laying flat most of the time. A real pain trying to type. Spend most of my computer time reviewing every dang thread ever posted on this site!

I joined Netflix during my down time and ordered/watched all kinds of movies. I also watched all the ones that could be downloaded directly to the computer from their website.

I think I read 3 years worth of every 4x4 magazine that a friend of mine had saved.

Soon enough you will be able to identify every imperfection in the ceilings and walls of your home.

Good luck on the recovery!

Here you go...try helping the daffy lil' duck to land safely.

BTW, it's PETA approved...no animals are actually hurt in this game!

Feel better!

Re: Shoulder Surgery is Killing Me!

percocet messed me up! I would take 2 - then forget that I took them....not wait my 4 hours...then take 2 more...........and be a MESS.......I suggest writing down when you take them in hindsight.

I still have my percocet bottle from my time in the sling. I was home alone one day and needed to get into the bottle, but couldn't with just one arm......so I took my Spyderco and hacked holes in the top of the bottle til I got through.......lol
