Help!!!My wife's glASS broke the toilet!

Thank goodness she never reads the forums or she'd kill me. I'm hoping some of you handy folks can help me out. My wife accidentally flushed a glass candle holder down the toilet last night...it's about an inch or so across and I think it got stuck in the s-curve of the toilet just out of reach...water flushes real slow now. My first thought was a plummer, but then I thought maybe I can fix it myself...I've replaced a toilet before and it isn't that hard. I'm looking for an easier solution than taking the toilet out and shaking it upside-down in the back yard... Suggestions?

Re: Help!!!My wife's glASS broke the toilet!

Turn off the water to the bowl; take the bowl off and stuff the waste pipe
opening with a rag; then using a toilet snake go at the candle till it breaks
into pieces. Next, remove the pieces very carefully so as not to get injured,
then flush with water to get any residual glass out. Finally, remove the rag
from the waste pipe opening; clean off the old wax ring from the flange and
the bottom of the bowl - replace with a new wax ring; then carefully reattach
the bowl and fill the tank and flush.

No need to take the bowl outside at all.

Mike

Turn off the water.

Shop vac the water in the bowl and see if the candle holder drops out.

If not go with the other suggestion of breaking it.

No chance of just dropping a huge duece in hopes that the shear weight, mass, and a little inertia might clear it out?..........On second thought you don't want to pick out brown glass, never mind.
