What good deed have you done?

My wife, kid and I were on our way to a large boating/hunting retail store, to look into buying a pedal boat for the lake in our backyard. On our way there, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, two men scratching their heads trying to figure out how to get a big riding mower out of a trench. This was no tiny sears mower, this was one of those big commercial riders and he was hi centered on the deck and deep in the trench. The trench was about 3 ft deep.
I turn around and ask if the guy needed help, at first he seemed hesitant, but then saw my winch and said yes please. I hooked the winch up and pulled the big heavy mower slowly out. The guy shook my hand and offered some plants in return for the help.

So, what did you guys do this weekend...any other good doers?

Re: What good deed have you done?

Nothing FJ related but I did fix some cheap a$$ amish built cabinets for my aunt today. Hint: good cabinets do not have $2 drawer slides. The Woodsman retrofitted full extension ball bearing slides for a lifetime of trouble free use. Hero = Woodsman.

Also, one day last week I trimmed out the kitchen window in my sister's old house. She's been living in the house for 23 years and her husband (a hard working farmer) has never gotten around to it. They were very appreciative.

Re: What good deed have you done?

Just part of the support before/after the fact. My weekend on call at work, made sure the aircraft were ready to go.... They went to a horrible accident in the middle of the night, middle of nowhere. It took us 5 hours to clean afterwards. By far the worse I've seen in 20 years.

Re: What good deed have you done?

As long as you aren't doing good deeds to let others know that you did a good deed, than it is okay by me. I actually stopped on my bike ride today to chase a duck out of the middle of the street so it wouldn't get ran over, I think he could not fly though for some reason.

With the FJ, there was a guy blocking traffic in a broke down fedex truck. I circled back around to him and offered a pull out. It took a good bit of gas and it still wasn't moving. Finally something popped on the Fedex truck and it started rolling, enough to get off the street. WHo knows what broke.

Re: What good deed have you done?

My son and I went mountain biking today up at Smithville Lake (w/the FJ of course) and when we were leaving, we noticed a guy trying to put his front wheel on-his kids were waiting for him and he looked frustrated. SO I circled around and asked if he needed help and he said yes. As you well know, FJ owners are notoriously over prepared and I had the right tool to get him on his way to enjoy a great afternoon with his kids. I just had a great morning with my boy and felt he deserved the same.

Re: What good deed have you done?

I helped these people once, and my department gave me something for it, but my wife was upset with me. Then this other time I helped another guy out. He was happy.
