Thats what friends are for

Last week, I met a gal I really liked at a bar. We talked for 2 hours, I had one hand on her leg, and the other on her hip, the body language was unmistakeable. So when I get up to use the restrooom, a so called buddy of mine swooped in and asked for her phone number. I already had it, so no worries there, but it seemed really wrong, not the type of thing a friend would do. So anyhow, 20 minutes ago, I get a message on my cell, an employer asking for a reference, in regards to this buddy. Gee, will I give him a reference

Re: Thats what friends are for

that's crappy.

I always feel better being less vengeful though - maybe just give a decent reference for posterity? I dunno..

Call him up and tell him you want $100 or he doesn't get the reference.

Re: Thats what friends are for

I think this so-called friend secretly hates me, this is not the first time he's pulled this sort of crap. I beleive he is jealous I have a good job. Oh BTW, how can I give hime a reference when he is 37, has about 6 jobs a year, none paying more than $10 an hour, and he admits, he is a nightmare employee.

Oh yeah, he's going bald.

Agreed...but at least be up front with him and tell him you're not comfortable giving him a reference. I've done that before! Especially if it's someone trying to get a job where I work on my reference. I will NOT refer someone who is not a good fit, work-wise or culturally with the organization.
