When I lived in Illinois, it was on a nature preserve (i.e., swamp). Those d@mn Canadian geese were always in the yard - HUNDREDS of them. Goose crap everywhere. We had to string up fishing line around the yard to have an area to walk in that wasn't all nasty. They are definitely mean and territorial. Alligator snapping turtles always came in the yard to bury their eggs too...kept hoping one of them would get really hungry and eat the stupid geese! And the geese are protected - so you can't "harass" them...or kill them.

thats pretty funny, but I agree w previous posts, toss the dog keep the good. If it had been my dog gettin attacked I wouldnt have had to do anything but sit back and watch the carnage (90lbs of German Shepard w a bad attitude). Id of had goose for dinner.
I disagree about the dog though. I think what you saw there was a well trained, and good tempered, dog who knew that goose couldn't do anything more that pinch his fur and make noise. About as much as most small children can do. And I think we ALL can agree that we'd like to see that same reaction from our dog if it was a nuisance child and not a goose.

If you get a good grip on the goose by the neck, I'm sure you could get it at least 60 or 70 ft. closer to the the south with a good throw.
I had a client with geese on their well manicured property. This guy with a dog stops by and says he can run them off. Geese were gone one day, back the next, gone, back...etc. Turns out the neighbor down the road hires this guy to run off their geese. He runs them next door and gets hired to push them back to the original guy. Nice scam until you get caught.
Growing up on a small farm, one of my most vivid early memories...we had two female geese and one nasty-tempered gander. When the females decided to nest near our long driveway, the gander felt obliged to come out and "challenge" every vehicle that drove by. The stupid thing would come out right in front of the truck and stand there honking! One day dad and I were heading out and he was in no mood for the attitude. I remember hearing "bump, bump". On the way back in, he stopped, tossed Mr. Gander into the back of the truck and we spent several hours thereafter plucking that stinkin' bird.
Bad attitude and bad taste to go with it!
