Is it Happy Hour yet? Let's do some drinking and then start the thread up again.
Everyone is much more reasonable with a few drinks in them.
...And prettier too!
FjDAve - That's all well & good, until you need a plane to go somewhere!
Funny thing is, everything & everyone is an "endangered species". One day, because of plate techtonics, a meteor, a comet, Gods will, or (*gasp*) Human activity, we'll all be extinct 'cause of too much heat or too much cold. I could care less if I wear a friggin rock a little faster than nature will (tread lightly is just appeasement and will get us nowhere) or smoosh a desert tortise (an unintensional tragic accident I assure you). I'm doing nothing that nature will not do eventually, maybe just a tad faster. I subscribe to the common sense ideas of the boy scouts and do no intentional harm and take out more than I brought in but jez, wear & tear happens, even in nature!
Asbestos is still the best flame retardant ever discovered, where is that suit anyway...
Politics affects everything around us, if you don't like it, don't read it!

I've enjoyed reading through this thread. Of course, no matter what side of this issue you agree with, all of this talk doesn't do squat. It's certainly fun to debate though.
Al Gore isn't a complete moron IMO. He, like most politicians, is just exploiting a situation for his own personal gain. And, he most definitely is a hypocrite.
I absolutely agree Jon, but at the same time there are just as many scientists with just as impressive credentials who are saying that they believe we ARE risking catastrophic events with the way things have been going. My position is that there is no conclusive evidence one way or the other and I prefer to err on the side of caution. What gets under my skin is when people base their opinion on this based on political affiliation or feelings about some celebrity / politician and what he thinks. I remain skeptical, but honestly worried about the consequences if "they" are right.
It's Jason but that's ok, what is interesting is the scientists that are backing the claims of "man made global warming" do a little Google on allot of there names and you will be surprised how many survive on grants based off GW effects.
That being said, I don't think we should be careless with our energy or our resources. Like all things there is a happy medium where both sides come come to a reasonable agreement on how to use resources.
Ok.. no offense, but, as long as this planet keeps getting as overpopulated as its getting, we are doomed.
Simple.
We are either going to have to move the USA to a different planet, or act now and fix the current problems.
Soylent Green?
