Yeah, let's throw litter all over the trails we love to wheel. Just pitch garbage out the windows of our cars no matter where we are. You make a lot of sense.....oh wait, I meant no sense.
Everything is biodegradable....
There is nothing that you can "throw out of your FJs window" ...that wont eventually be recycled by Mother Earth......nothing!!!
Youre disussing a matter of neatness!
Its not polite or clean (and rather unsightly ) to toss trash into nature....(and I agree)
but its nothing the Earth cant handle.....
Frog I gotta disagree. I think Al Gore is fricking brilliant. I hope to be half as smart to be able to pull off something on the scale of Global Warming.
Like L. Ron Hubbard, Gore's accomplishment is no less than the birth of a new religion. One that has got off to an incredible start. We can see the appeal it has to those with an axe to grind against their fellow man, and especially the infrastructure of modern civilization.
In conventional religion you are looking out for your own soul. If you don't believe, you are damned. Because you are doing God's work, you are right pretty much all the time. Those who dispute your views are disputing God.
In Global Warming you are even better than that, because you are unselfishly protecting Mother Earth. It is an elegant, approachable belief system that gives its believers immediate superiority over the rest of us. Since everything they do is for Mother Earth, they will never be wrong. And you can easily join in without the full commitment that conventional religion requires.
The more radical and successful cults share the Apocalypse; the ultimate punishment for non-believers. GW delivers an awesome apocalyptic vision with skewed and cherry-picked "data". GW is really church for a whole far-left segment of the population that hates church.
Since there is a 100-year history of the media and the scientific community predicting either an ice age or a meltdown, Gore could see that the idea is catchy and really works with some people.
But to be able to get entire governments to buy into it - just incredible. I would like to know how his people were able to work the PR system and media to be able to achieve results like that. It is really a work of art.
Sorry Jason, I have not had the pleasure of meeting you and the other excellent SoCal vendors, so a little trickier to keep names straight without faces to put with them. I thought I had it right and missed the mark.
Personally I'm very concerned with the litter I see on the trails (I always carry out what I can), the trash, smog and pollution of our major cities (I work from home a lot and try to drive our smaller vehicle as much as possible), our dependence on finite resources like oil and coal, and the soaring costs of fuel. So GW is just one of the many environmental issues I am concerned about, and it seems to me that there is enough evidence to at least be concerned - even if not completely convinced. I do not follow ANY party lines and treat all forms of "news" and "official information" with a good deal of skepticism. I agree that there IS a happy medium and consider both Al Gore (greenie) and GW Bush (oil tycoon) to be extremists at either end of the spectrum.
Men willingly believe what they wish.

Any good off-roader will pack out what he carries in plus more. That's just common sense. I want to keep our trails clean and our cities sky’s blue as much as the next guy. I just want it done for the benefit of man kind and the earth second not a political gain of one party or the other.
i can't take it anymore, i have to interject. Global warming is a serious issue that affects us all in some form or another whether you agree with the spokesperson or not. there is no doubt about the validity of his (Gore's) claims within the scientific community. why is it that the general public is so quick to denounce scientific findings and on what are your opinions based? i'm not here to personally attack anyone or theiir views, but i'd like to think that people were interested in having an informed opinion. based on what i've read, i find it hard to believe that the majority of respondents have a great deal of background information on the subject. maybe i'm just not seeing the sarcasm...

Youre wrong! Like George Carlin says "God put man on this earth because he wanted styrofoam"!

Oh, come on now (see, no personal attack!) There are PLENTY of valid arguments AGAINST the "validity of his claims" in the scientific community. Most of the ones promulgating these "facts" are dependent on them being swallowed. The ones speaking out against it do so at great peril to their careers and suffer agonizing personal attacks from the indoctrinated.
