Re: Concealed Handgun Class

Taking a Glock smithing class on Saturday. Rules 1-4 apply, plus no ammo allowed in the class room. Even the instructor locks the magazines in a safe.

The people in the stories didn't follow rules 1-4. Remember guns don't kill people, cops kill people!

Re: Concealed Handgun Class

Glocks are great carry weapons. Light weight and simple. Yea, this is my choice in conceled carry. I have 4, a 22, 2-23's and a 27 all .40 S&W. I use a Mitch Rosen IWB holster. If you are careless you can hurt yourself with a hammer.

Our local classes are taught by retired Texas Ranger Jim Peters. His name is well known in this area.

I hear his biography is a good read.
Amazon.com: Jim Peters: Texas Ranger: Lee Paul: Books
In a similar vein, I highly recommend "One Ranger: a Memoir" by H. Joaquin Jackson. Very well written and hard to put down.

One Ranger: A Memoir by H. Joaquin Jackson and David Marion Wilkinson and One Ranger Returns, with James L. Haley

Re: Concealed Handgun Class

Just got back from my Glock class. What a great class it was.

First I was asked by two peole on the way in the gun store if I had any live rounds. Then before we touched the pistols we we asked to search everything we brought for live rounds. Then after checking all of our firearms we traded with the person next to us, then they doubled checked. After lunch we again did this whole thing. Many people carried their pistols with them to lunch. I had another in the FJ for this.

Last week I had my first failure on my Glock 17. I got it second hand 7-8 years ago. One round didn't fire. There was a dent in the primer but no bang. I blamed it on something I did, they were reloads. Well upon taking things apart I found that the little hole next to the firing pin at the forward end was plugged with debris, so the firing pin was dragging a bit.

I am so glad I took this class. Recomend it to anyone who carries a Glock.
