Is Muriel Ng Body the shortest person on your department, or have you found somebody shorter to hire?
(it's a serious question. I know Muriel and she works with Dave and I asked her, but didn't get a straight answer - so it does fall within Dave's rule for asking a question about police work)
Officer Bode is the shortest officer on the Department, at a whole 4'11 1/2". However, we recently hired a male officer that is just 1" taller than Muriel. But I have to tell ya, Muriel has the largest heart of anyone I know. She's a sweetheart.
Sir, I have a test for you. Stand facing me, with your feet together...hells and toes touching. Ok, good. Now, without moving your head, follow the tip of my pen with your eyes only. Do not move your head. Do you understand? Ok.....
1) Can cops tell if you other tickets in the past if they pull you over? No, we can't, unless you have been convicted of the offense. But then it's only on your DMV printout.
2) Will cops go after certain cars (apperance of one aka rims, etc...) We have a learning curve in Law Enforcement. When a vehicle of a certain kind causes a lot of trouble, we tend to look at that kind of car a little closer. But we do it as fairly as possible.
3) What can you do in court to increase your chances of wining? Get a lawyer
I say this because once i proved that the cop could not recall the case and the circumstances of the event in which he pulled me over however the judge just got pissy and sided with the cop even judges have bad days
See my responses in bold next to your questions. I hope that helps!

1) Sometimes. But, not all other jurisdictions may show up on the computer.
2) Yes. Certain cars will attract the attention of a police officer (i.e., bright red, bling-mobiles, known road-rockets, etc.). Then again, radar guns are quite indiscriminate.
3) Yes. Appearing in court does put the odds in your favor of having a traffic violation dismissed. Often times, the officer will be unable to be present in court, and that in itself is often an automatic dismissal.

Are you being serious?
There is a LOT we can look up. If you give me a fictitious name, I can still find out who you are in about 15 minutes (without getting fingerprint returns!). As for cell phones and voice mail, stuff like that is almost as protected as a regular phone. In order to get records or anything like that, we need a search warrant in most cases. So don't worry, your 900 numbers are safe.......for now.....
