Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

X2 I have both....

Bridge over the River Kwai is another great film too.

It Branson, MO when Saving Private Ryan came out, they showed it at the IMAX and the News media brought in all the local WWII vets to watch it. They wanted to get there take on the film and to see if it was realistic. During the landing scene, about half had to be taken out of the theater do to heart problems by Paramedics. The others sat there and cried, VERY emotional scene. They said it was Exactly what and how it happened, they said the sound effects and visuals where too realistic and brought back a flood of memories of fallen brothers....

Yep, that sounds about right. AMAZINGLY well done.

On a side note.
Anybody else here ever notice how the music video for "The Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance has about the same production value as the opening of Saving Private Ryan? It's as if the two crews were working side by side on the same set with the same production company.

Check it out:

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

I couldn't either. I have several on DVD but even when they are on TV I watch them. You gotta love Hotdog in Kelly's Heros Don Rickles too.

Band of Brothers, if you watch all the addtional features on each disk puts a whole new spin on the movie. It makes it that much better.

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

Love 'em both - own 'em both. Privet Ryan was a bit too close to real for me the first time I saw it but I made it through it.

Blackhawk Down - can't watch it. It still pisses me off too much, lost a friend in that cluster-f!

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

Are they still planning on coming out with a Band of Brothers on the Pacific theater? Most of the good movies have already been listed, so I'll nominate We Were Soldiers.

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

Would agree about Big Red One and the We were Soldiers. For those of you that are readers I would strongly reccomend We Were Soldiers. My Brother In Law a vietnam vet will not watch any of those types of movies.
