Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

With out question (do not question them), the Best film's of all time.

If you have not seen one or the other, or both, they are a must-see.

That is all.

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

I don't know about "Best", but the emotional toll Saving Private Ryan takes on you is remarkable. I went to see it in the theater with my sister and father. Dad was riveted to his seat during the whole landing scene, then got up and left! We caught up to him in the lobby and he said, "Too realistic. Spielberg got it right. Just too damn real for me." My dad is a 26 year Army vet (Ranger) with two tours in Korea (conflict) and nearly 10 years in Vietnam.

When I did finally see it, and every time since, I can't help but get choked up at the end when the elderly Ryan collapses and asks his wife if he has led a good life...

Heck I'm choked up now just typing this.

Good writing/movie making, to be sure.

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is amazing, words cannot describe it. My roommates and I regularly skipped full days of classes in college and watched it (for like the 50th time) straight through. It was also a snow day ritual.
greatest scene ever: when donny walberg is talkin about the squad leader who ran across the entire field and through the Nazi line to get to the other company... "and then he did something I couldnt believe... he came back"

Re: Saving Private Ryan/Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is without a doubt , the greatest WWII experience on film.
Saving Private Ryan certainly is in the Top 10 of WWII films

To round out a list of my Top 10 WWII films :

The Great Escape : not the greatest movie , but a movie you can't find
anything wrong with.
A Bridge Too Far : the best ensemble movie on WWII

The Train : WWII from a different point of view

Patton : a tour de force by George C. Scott

The Big Red One : will be appreciated as time marches on

The Great Raid : one of the few modern era WWII film that gets it right

The Longest Day : up till it's time of production , one of the best

Kelly's Heroes : the best comedy dealing with WWII

The Eagle Has Land : fictionalized action/adventure from WWII

Where Eagles Dare : again , fictionalized action/adventure from WWII
that is as good as it gets

I know that's a dozen - but I cannot find one to drop
