West FJ's - Yellowstone Accomidations

Western FJ'ers....I'm planning on a short trip to Yellowstone on my way to the Summit and was wondering if anyone has any lodge/hotel recommendations on the east side for a few nights. Lots of Lodges and Ranches but hard to tell quality from their websites.

Re: West FJ's - Yellowstone Accomidations

I guess I'm the wrong person to ask because the last time I was out there I just pulled into the parking lot at the main lodge and snoozed. I remember it well because it was in late July and very hot but the next morning it was below freezing with frost on the windows. We were one of the few vehicles parked in that area of the parking lot and the next morning there must've been 20 or more others parked around us snoozin'

Re: West FJ's - Yellowstone Accomidations

We spent 5 days at the Shoshone Lodge near the East entrance about 15 years ago. Very nice cabin and close to the park.

Check out West Yellowstone MT. It's on the other side of the park but is a nice place and is well positioned as a base to see the park. The Old Faithful lodge is nice too, but overpriced and usually full.

I think I remember hearing that this is a better place to stay . . . not as expensive and not as busy as the other entrance area. Does that sound right ?

Three Bears Lodge has always been great in the past. If you look on Marriott's website, I believe there is a Fairfield Inn there too. They usually have a free breakfast!
