I had been actually using the lube since before she was born to try to 'condition' them....
Besides the fact that they were hurting, baby went from 6lbs, 3ozs to 5lbs, 9 ozs and she wasn't gaining - she was losing weight....SO, this way, we know she is eating and just how much.
We are going to give her so much love, she will be just fine with formula!\
IF I can pump, we will do that too, but I can't even let anything touch them right now.....

Tough t i t t i e s! Stop being a wuss, suck it up, and do what's best for your girl. They'll toughen up. If you have to pump, do that, but your girl will do much better if she fed breast milk. In addition to the immune system benefits and cancer prevention, a recent intensive study has shown that breast-fed children are significantly smarter than those who were fed formula.
You can do it! Otherwise, you will most likely spend the rest of your years with agonizing guilt about not doing what was best for your child like my mother has. Just thinking of both you and your baby!

Kat you do what's best. I've had 3 myself and breastfed the baby up until 12mo. the other two have no different "immunity" than the baby... and my oldest "formula fed" is at the top of his class.
I know it's really hard to see what you are giving the baby when breastfeeding and you are constantly concerned. Just make sure you hold that baby and love her when you feed her so you have the same one on one moments as you would of breastfeeding!
they say breastfeeding is like rubbing sand paper on your nipples.. I'd beg to differ... it's much worse.
