Er..Hum.. Strange thread sort-a, but I'll play. Those of my wives that had problems breast feeding, had no problems with a breast pump.. There I've said it. The benefits of even a little consumption are significant. The most significant is to the immune system. FWIW.. Ron
And how many wives would that be Heff oh I mean Ron?

Hi Kat, call the - La Leche league http://www.lllofaz.org/. They will help you. The first week is painful, and if your (sorry guys) engorged then you need to express some to let the lil girl get a good grip(latch on) and then she will eat!!! and you will regulate to her demand. But she needs to get on them right.
It is normal for them to lose a few ounces the first week, so keep putting her on. 10 minutes on one 5 on the other, then start her on the one you ended with the previous feeding (it will be fuller first) and so on! If you switch her to a bottle she will get lazy because it is easier fot them to take the bottle, and not want the breast.
I breastfed our daughter and it was so great, after the first week and the nurse came to the house and showed me what i was doing wrong! I was rock hard and she couldn't latch on at all ( i thought she was but she was not). After she actually got some milk she slept good and woke up real hungry and what a difference in the boobs, no pain! Our son had a lactose problem and we had to switch him to soy! I fed him for 5 hours straight one night, and after 5 diaper changes and the milk just going right through him i called the doc! She still wanted me to nurse him! but give him the soy too, because of the good stuff the milk has in it!
PM me if you have any questions. I'll help from a far if i can!
well all i can say is that I am glad my daughters are teenagers and not babies anymore! but that in itself presents a whole new problem! lol

LOL, I hear ya, I have a "Twelve-teen" at home (12 but acts like he's going on 16...) Drives me mad sometimes in the stupid things he does. The younger one (9) has an advantage, he is seeing all the mistakes his brother makes and learns from his brothers mistakes!

Ah, Man, this whole thread is just giving me the icky cringe! I mean, I'm all for the mommy thing and I might even want to be one when I grow up, but I believe the word "engorged" just sent me over the edge.
Good luck with the whole leche thing, Kat! I feel for ya!
