So, here I am hard at work in Dyersburg, TN. The only active duty Marine in the area. I walk out my office and get in my government vehicle to go to an appt. As I am programming the address into the GPS I catch someone walking up to my window out of the corner of my eye. I look over to see a Marine LtGen (3 star) standing there. First thing that goes through my mind is "Thank God I am in uniform and not civilian attire", lol. As I get out of the vehicle I realize I know who it is. First thing that comes out of my mouth is "How are you doing General Castellaw (who was born and raised about 20 min from my office)" as I shake his hand. He was taken back a little bit that I knew who he was. So I explained that he was the CG of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing when I was stationed with a Squadron that fel under his command and we have meet before. We chit chat for a bit about how things are going on recruiting duty and he then hands me an envelope with a personal invitation to his retirement ceremony and social at the end of next month. After he leaves I'm thinking to myself that normally generals dont hand deliver invitations to their retirement ceremony. I then immediatly call every recruiting office within 100 miles to warn them that he is in our AO and to make sure their offices and what not are squared away, lol. Then reality sets in today as I realize that at the end of next month I'm gonna have more brass in my AO then I really want, lol. I can just see it now......the Commandant of the Marine Corps along with the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps hanging out in my area for a few days.......lovely, lol.
Just thought I would share that

The SgtMaj of the Marine Corps was born and raised in Memphis so I think he will make it a point to be here, lol.
I was at a MCRD San Diego for a Drill competition a couple of years ago.. SMMC Estrada (i think that was his name) was overlooking it. I was the Guide-On and he walked right in front of me, eyeballed me for what seemed like a minute, and walked away. I swear to god i have never been so scared before in my life. :embarrassed:

Ahh hell, they put their pants on the same way you do every morning. It sounded like you weren't too intimidated. Have fun!
Nahhh, not intimidated at all. Just a lil surprised, lol. Not what I was expecting to happen to me at work. You usually get a couple days heads up when brass like that is comming through. The CO in Nashville had no idea he was in the area, lol.
