He was talking about the new one. Where they drive one direction for half the movie, then drive back the other half.

BTW, I am the Nightrider!
Ugh…yeah, while it was entertaining for what it was I thought the new one sucked. Mad Max (1979) is a masterpiece and The Road Warrior is a perfect followup. I was pleased to see that Hugh Keays-Byrne (Toe Cutter) was cast again! …But bummed he wasn't Toecutter. :/ Wha whaaaaaa...

The thing I like about the chase in Bullit is that car that loses 5 hubcaps.

Let's have a real intellectual discussion. Which is the best car chase scene? (and what movie was it in?)

Feel free to post links to videos so we can all do some research.
Can we find the best top 5 or so & then make it a vote?

Re: Best Movie Chase Scene?

OMFG, someone brought up that crap, the Fast and the Furious franchise? God what stupid movies. I mean, if you like cars, and working on them it is just insulting how badly (that is, completely ignorant of anything actually related to doing that kind of work) they present the prospect of building a truly fast car, and how cartoonish everything else is. If you like "professional wrestling" and consider it a sport, my apologies!

Actually, I do have to agree that the men who take part in professional wrestling, they do work for a living, and work damn hard, but it sure isn't a sport. The F&F movies, if you can turn your mind off far enough to believe that someone is going to boot up their laptop and reprogram their ECU DURING a 10 second drag race, well, that isn't "suspension of disbelief, it's just poor story telling.

Those stunt drivers and that camera work was outstanding. That is skill when you can keep that 70s American iron glue to the road as well as is depicted. I wonder how many vehicles and re-takes were needed to complete the compiled scene.
Steve McQueen was a race car driver and did his own stunt/work driving!

I thought this was a post your favorite chase scene thread, not bash someone else's favorite movie franchise thread? I personally don't care if the franchise is realistic or not. They make for excellent movies and showcase real car culture. I've likely watched each of them half a dozen times.

Ronin, the two main car chase inside
In the second one when the camera shows clearly the use of handbrake to pass the roundabout, this is great.

I was a bit harsh, wasn't I?

I apologize.

Car chase scenes, in the best sense, involve real cars, and human drivers, doing great things.

This isn't a chase seen but one funny commercial with Jeff Gordon.
