Baby Seats & FJ's - A new project has been born (literally)

I'm been so slammed lately. Sold a house, building a house, living with in-laws while said house is being built (fun times), running the side business in very confined quarters, of course the day job also AND then this little guy joined us in December.

We got a used Keyfit 30 from a friend which should hold him over until its safety warranty expires this summer. At that point I'm on the market again for a new one.

Meet Mr. IndyFJ Jr.

Baby seat recommendations and GO!

FJ's are not the easiest for car seats but get better as you progress to a larger one. We used Evenflo and Chicco. Currently we use the Evenflo Symphony All-in-one Elite. Great seat and fits well in the middle of the back seats. For our infant car seat we used the Chicco Key Fit - was solid.

Here are links to both of them:

Chicco - Chicco | Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat & Base - Lilla

Evenflo - Symphony All-in-One Car Seat | Evenflo

Congrats on the beautiful little addition to your family! Wishing you all the success and happiness!

We have a 7month old and 2yr old and have tried a few different seats. Best advice I can give is to stick with a seat with the quick attach latching system. The old hook style that Graco uses are a pain.

I'll ride in on a sunny day, Sing you a song, steal your heart away Like a cowboy Hang my hat like I'm here for awhile Kick off my boots and drive you wild Like a cowboy Well baby you know I can't stay long You wake up, I'll be gone Until then I'll hold on Like a cowboy.

The newer Gracos have the same quick attach on the bigger seats at least. I don't mind the hook style if it's just holding in the base that doesn't move from car to car. I was very pleased with the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35. Fit my kid well from beginning (left hospital at 4lbs 0oz) until he got too heavy to carry comfortably. It was easy to get in the back of the FJ also. Just saw red and black ones on clearance at Target today for $105. After that, we graduated to the Graco Head Wise 65. Rear facing fits well in the center of the FJ, but getting a kid in there isn't terribly easy if you're 4"-6" higher than stock... Just changed to front facing behind me and that's pretty easy to work with again. Usually we'll just take the SS since it has a lot more room, but the FJ is pretty easy to work with.
