I read alot and then I read a little more.... My experience is with Toyota and Honda and I have always been impressed by both. Porsche and MB should be quality since they both cost many times the money Toyota's and Honda's cost. I think if I ventured into the luxury market I would head to Lexus and skip the MB's.....But for now I will continue to move around in the market I know and admire from behind the steering wheel.

Initial quality is SOOO misleading. What really counts is 10 years down the road for someone like me who keeps the vehicle. I fully realize I'm atypical though....though I wonder with the current economy if the practice of constant trade ins and leases will be a viable alternative in the future.
Toyota used to be that mfg. Now, I'm not so sure. I'm not impressed with my '07 Lexus' quality in the slightest. It's a nice looking car, but a lot of it was poorly engineered compared to my older Toyotas.
IMO, if I were shopping for a small to medium sized car right now for DD/commuting and family duty....the Honda Accord seems to be the best value/quality for the money. The Camry just seems cheap and Chevy Malibu-ish....though it does have a very smooth ride.
2 cents,
Sean

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these FJs hold up as well as my 02 Taco did. That truck was hands down the best vehicle I've yet to own. 6 years and 80,000 miles and only upgraded the front rotors and put in a CAI. I bought it brand new in 02 for $18k and sold it for $13k! Had I the foresight to envision a daughter I would have went with the double cab instead of the ext cab. But then I wouldnt be here chatting with all you characters.....so maybe it will work out. All I can say is I'm digging the FJ so far, but it has some BIG shoes to fill!
