went camping last night (in the backyard!)

Well, the boyfriend gets to have is wonderful 7 year old daughter for 10 days, and we were going to take her camping, but he ended up having to work all weekend.

So babygirl and I set up the tent in the backyard yesterday, and got the deck all ready for a cookout, strung party lights everywhere, and when daddy got home we had the porkchops (Sweet Baby Rays!) and beans and zucchini ready. Then we had a campfire on the deck and cooked smores!

It was a blast. When we went to bed in the tent at midnight it was still 85 degrees outside, and the wind was blowing about 20 mph. We finally got up at about 3 a.m. and went in the house when the wind was blowing so hard the tent was trying to collapse. That's the best thing about it, we got to cookout, campout, and end up in our nice cozy beds in the house!

Yeah, we cheated, but it sure was fun!!!

Re: went camping last night (in the backyard!)

Yeah, it was a blast and I hope it is something she will remember the rest of her life. We went golfing a few hours ago and came home to a downpour! All of her library books were in the tent, but minimal water damage --

until she tripped while carrying them in and they all flew into a water puddle on the patio!

No harm done, we put them in front of a fan to dry, got all the rain flaps down on the tent, and now its time to paint. She loves the acrylics and is quite the little artiste.

Re: went camping last night (in the backyard!)

That sounds like a great time for you gals. I took my 3 kids camping north of Williams Thursday night. It was our 5 year old girls 1st camping trip and she had a blast. She keeps asking when we're going again. Sounds like your food was way better than ours.
