Finaly a storm chase chance

Got the first chance at storm chasing last night with the upgrades I put on the FJ. I posted those upgrades in the member build up section.
http://http://www.fjcruiserforums.co...e-vehicle.html
It kind of snuck up on me as I was watching the Cubs game. Knew we had some weather coming this way. But not this kind. When all was said and done. I ended up getting the day off today, since the plant I work at took a hit. Turning semi's over and taking off part of the roof. Before I decided to head out for a little chasing. Had to wait till the bottom of the inning as the sirens were going off. Then headed out just after the baseball size hail pounded the roof of my house. I know of course after many trials and errors not to go out then.
Had my cameras with me of course. But did't get any very good pictures. I go alone so driving and taking pics is a bit of a challenge. The spot I was at was just west of the place I work. I left that spot just minutes before it hit near the ole work place. I should have been a little further south but "hey" it was pretty dark by then. I hate chasing in the dark. Even though it was only 9:00.
I do know this vehicle is ready to go. Even with all the wind blowing as hard as it was. Just kept on going where I wanted to go. Going by people pulled over to the side of the road. OUT IN THE OPEN!!! which is not the way to go.
Some people have some learning to do. One way or the other.
Looking forward to another day of storms since I now have the day off. And we'll see what happens.

Zig

Re: Finaly a storm chase chance

Ziggy - I live out by New Cambria and we didn't get much damage. Mainly small hail and a few tree limbs down. I did make a lap around Salina this morning, though, and saw a little bit of roof damage as well as some parking canopies down. If you go south on I35 just outside of town by Smolan, you can see some of the bigger highway signs that had been mounted to what looked like 8" structural I beam that have been twisted and blown over. I have a fellow worker that is headed to Washington, Ks for a job today and he said he was going to see if he could get into Chapman and see what's up over there.

Nice to see another person from Salina on here. I've been lurking on and off and thought I was the only one other than for another fellow from McPherson.
