Unhappy Evacuating our 6,000+ students and leaving BESSIE behind!

Yep. Gustav is coming to town and our command policy states that we will evacuate all of our students to Albany, Georgia if our base is to see anything worse than a Category 1 storm.

So yours truly is to drive a bus with 45 of our country's finest to Albany sometime this weekend. I will remain there with them in a warehouse to help keep the peace, then bring them back when all is clear.

Worst part is Bessie, my beloved FJ gets to stay in a parking lot on base while I am gone. You know, the same base that had over 350 cars destroyed during Hurricane Ivan a few years ago.

It's a big suck-sandwich, and I'm gonna be taking a BIG bite of it.

Wish us luck. I'm confident that my rig will fare okay. It's kinda like real estate: location, location, location.
And she's already rigged to pull the trees off the school house when we get back!

Stay safe brother!

I had friends down there on instructor duty when the last one came through.

Matt:

Godspeed to you man! I hope all works out OK. Things (even your beloved Bessie) can be replace, but people can't. Take care and keep us updated when you can!

Be safe. I evacuated from Eglin for Opal and parked my truck that i owned then under a big tree hoping to find it gone when i got back. The tree fell the other way.

x2

I would not mind at all bringing it up to the safety of Birmingham. No need to worry about trees hitting it here. My biggest tree fell last Saturday night and the smaller ones should have learned to Fear FJs.

This one missed the FJ by 5 feet......

Naw, that's alright. I know you'd probably invite Scott up and two of you would take it out for a 'drive-it-like-you-stole-it' weekend.
