I'm looking into buying a new 3G cell phone. I've been looking at the Iphone 3g and the Samsung Eternity. I'm not sure that I need all the gizmos that come along with the iphone and the more I look at the Samsung Eternity the more I like it. Regardless of which phone I go with these cell phone companies sure do charge a lot for internet, streaming tv, and GPS usage.
Personally, I don't use Itunes and I don't own a mac so I'm kind of leaning to the new style "iphone killers". The new black berries look cool too.
What say you? Anybody buy a new 3g phone that you just love and want to share why? Please post up..
I currently have the iPhone 3G and I've had Samsung phones in the past. I'm constantly on the computer for my work, so when I'm away from my computer I really like to be able to get full emails and the internet search features that the iPhone delivers. But in all reality, the cell phone technolgy is advancing so quickly it really boils down to a few things. What provider you trust, what you need/want the phone for, and what kind of interface you want.
As for my, my cell phone bill is generally $100-125/month due to my minute plan, unlimited text, and email/internet.

I have an iPhone and love it! Nice thing is you can add apps or delete apps. I don't use it much for music but I do use text and email functions. I use weather, stock, sports remote control, camera and text to voice apps. It works great with the web, youTube and google.
But there are a lot of cool phones out there. I like Apple stuff for the ease of use factor.

I was one of those anti-Apple folks before fooling around with the iPhone, and once I did, I was hooked. I love it - absolutely love it! I love not having to carry around an additional device (mp3 player) anymore.
Iphone is owning this thread =). I'll play with the Iphone when I go in to the att store. They are cool. I really need to compare it with the Samsung eternity.
I'll be doing web browsing/emails mostly. I do like how the Eternity has a 3megapixel camera and video share. Does the iphone?
I had the iphone (1st gen) but hated it and went back to my old samsung black jack. While the apps on the new iphone 3g is nice, I still prefer a non touch screen smart phone. Plus I use the black jack as a modem on my laptop when i'm out camping. (the iphone at the time wasn't 3g and couldn't/didn't know how to you it as my internet connection to my laptop.) But who knows, if really wanted to, I just might get a touchscreen phone but it would be a iphone hater type of phone. Theres just way better phones out there that beats the iphone hands down but you have to pay the price. The Nokia N96 is a good phone and has a powerful processor, the sony xperia x1 is a new phone also. Even the HTC touch pro looks good (sprint and verizon has the rights to this phone and is rebadged.) But then again you will have to pay top dollars to get one of these. Hope I helped you a little and just wanted to broaden you to more options.

Nokias have had my attention for a long time due to their ease, reliability, reception, OPENNESS (S60 is brimming with software), and features for the dollar. GPS, WIFI, second to none camera (3,5MP, though I believe samsung is the new leader with the 8MP camera), everything. So, Id recommend the N series, and E series such as the E71, E71x, N96, N95 8gb, N81, etc. But, the Sony X1 is looking mighty impressive for the dollar, even if its running the debatable winmo interface. Anything HTC is also very good. Then theres the iphone, which may be lacking in the features department, but certainly makes up for it in terms of ease and support (try taking some of the gray-market nokias for help... it isnt happening. Heck, even their store only models dont have support from ATT/T-mo).
