I'm on chapter 11 of the 6th Harry Potter book. Maybe we will finish at the same time.
Guess what................

Albus Dumbledore dies.

There were no obvious signs, in fact two weeks ago we had an officer come tell us that we had plenty cash to cover debts and keep our sites running then last week in the news we hear that the company couldn't make debt payments.

I am an electrical engineer working in power distribution, hopefully i make it through the cuts.
Ah ha. Only about 6 people in my company (out of 500) know the size of our cash account, of that only 2 of the chiefs...it has been my experience that most people don't look at the balance sheet and make assumtions on other great looking numbers. Maybe your income statement looks great and your cash position will turn around eventually. but that's another ass-umption.

Makes me wonder if Ike had something to do with it.

Won't hurt to blame it. Hell, people are still blaming Katrina, so why not? We always have global warming to fall back on...

Seriously, though. I wonder if the storm caused higher expenses and/or losses than originally thought...
It hurt us very much, we had to shutdown 13 manufacturing sites in the gulf coast for a couple weeks and lost one site to flooding. it hurt for sure

Problem is that demand has declined alot so income projections aren't great

Re: My employer filed chapter 11, WOOHOO.

Just in case though if anyone is in the Houston area and a bourbon smelling guy in a tan Wheeltoberfest 2008 T-shirt (it has an FJ on it) comes to clean your windows, be kind. I hear those guys can make up to 16 an hour.

Re: My employer filed chapter 11, WOOHOO.

We first learned of this in the newpaper last week, gotta love when a company is open with it's employees. Well to be fair the company i hired on with was open but it was bought out last year and now not so much.

Here is today's news article.

Bloomberg.com: Worldwide
