Anyone driven the '07 wranglers? How do they compare to the FJ?

Well...I'm stuck between the two...I'm leaning towards the FJ, but the open top of the Wrangler is definetly a big plus. I also like its size (2-door). Most of my driving will be city/highway, and most often the obvious answer will be the FJ. But after reading just about every review out there, many have mentioned that the new JK wranglers are alot more refined but still just as capable as ever. Anyone here ever driven one yet?

I already test drove the FJ and absolutely loved it!! The problem with the JK is that its too new and most dealers here in SoCal won't let you test drive them without jumping through hoops or credit checks and etc.

I am curious too and will be test driving a 2007 wrangler this weekend....

I live in LA.

There is a huge shipment of these jeeps at the Port so there should be many on the Car Lost within days.

One dealer hoped to have 10 by tomorrow (Firday)..

There are 2 unlimiteds at the alhambra jeep dealership (they called me yesterday), but I can't make it there today. Just a heads up in case your looking. Great news regarding the port though. Just avoid Glendale...they're charging $7000 mark-up over a base "X" model unlimted!!! You can already get them at near or at invoice through www.jeepwarehouse.com!

Re: Anyone driven the '07 wranglers? How do they compare to the FJ?

Santa Monica has a Rubicon at $5,000 above MSRP. They told me they would reduce it a little - yeah right!

Then salesman (Skip) said in a month the prices will drop as more come in and the lot fills up.

Rubicon is nice with 32" tires...

I have deposit down on the FJ Cruiser TRD - but I do want to drive the Wrangler also.

I really would like the removable top -

I gotta tell you...that 4-door that they're selling looks like crap. It's looks like somebody's attempt at a Jeep limo. Fugly.

check price and reliability

The MSRP on the Jeep for a fairly close apples to apples comparison is about $2k more than the FJ. Then if the Jeep dealers charge over MSRP, the price difference will keep growing.

On the reliability, have you ever known a Jeep to go 250,000+ miles trouble free? I know there is no guarantee the FJ will either, but I do know at least 3 guys with Tacomas who have over 250,000 miles and still going strong. The odds are greater that your Toyota will live a longer and healthier life with fewer expensive repairs.

I also have a 2002 Ram 1500 Quad Cab. It is a good truck, but has been to the dealer many times for repairs. I'm on my third set of brakes, having worn out already at 13,000, 18,000 and 25,000. We are currently at 41,000 miles. At 39,000, the power steering rack had to be replaced at $950. Ouch!

And I won't even mention the Ford Taurus which had to have a transmission replaced at 53,000 miles - not under warranty!

From now on, no more of the Big 3. Toyota will be my next car also.
