I have been to the Detroit ones, I just think LA is the car culture capital of the world and the LA show has come a long ways. 10 years ago I would have said the detroit show is best, now I think it has changed a bit.
Being in the automotive design industry (especialy all my classmates that graduated transportation design (art center)), LA auto show is not that great. We often get "left overs" from the Detroit show. The best are usualy Detroit, Tokyo, Geneva & Frankfurt...these are when they usualy have concepts or debuts before you see them in magazines.
