I feel like Mike5 has been somehow reincarnated. That is not a good thing.

As to those who mentioned their longtime jeep ownership did not lead to numerous reliability problems, I would just say that different people have different expectations from their vehicles.

Having been a jeep owner and a toyota owner, and having wheeled with countless owners of each make, it is my personal opinion that jeep owners by and large (all the ones I have ever known--including my own brother) have lower standards when it comes to vehicle engineering and reliability.

Re: Rubicon beat the FJ for 4x4 of the Year???

No, what you are doing is just plain dumb. At best, since your work for Toyota, you are getting a low price on Toyota vehicles...that's it. Cars do NOT appreciate...you may get a buck or two, but you do not get rich on it. But then again, THIS EXPLAINS THE FINANCIAL HARDSHIP THAT YOU CLAIM TO BE IN. Yeah, you've a lot of vehicles in your lifetime...but it's not something that i would proclaim because it shows your lack of education and simple logic. I am not sure why i am arguing with you on this...the fact that you stated that last part of your argument shows your intelligence!!

Oh, you tow horses with your Powerstroke...but didn't the Powerstroke have like 10 million recalls and TSBs?? I would have gotten a Dodge or Chevy truck with a much more reliable powertrain...but then again, YOU should know that since you're an automotive expert and all. I am just a neophyte compared to you.

So, your Jeep TJ Modded is your daily driver...why are you even comparing it to the FJ?? And the FJ is far better on-road than ALL OF YOUR RIDES.

You've been a safe driver for many years (or so you claim)...but does that stop the next idiot (likely someone like yourself with a vehicle without ABS) from losing control and ramming you??

Again, you did not address my Sumari analogy??

Here's a financial help just for you...if you're planning on doing "auto estate" (which is stupid BTW), then i would consider getting something that is in high demand down the road...aka small econobox (ex: Corolla and Civics).

Re: Rubicon beat the FJ for 4x4 of the Year???

I have about 30,000 miles on my '05 Jeep Rubicon. I have owned about 10-12 jeep products and never had a problem with any of them. I've owned twice that many Toyota products and had similar results - no problems.
If I were to pick one to live with for the rest of my life - it would be a Toyota.
In keeping with a prior post - Jeep products are probably subjected to harder lives than most Toyotas too.
All of this is conjecture - to what end I am not sure.

To Thais point about versatility on/off road - There is NO COMPARISON Rubicon to the FJ. I own both, the FJ handsdown.

Re: Rubicon beat the FJ for 4x4 of the Year???

I had an interesting conversation with my neighbor this morning. He has worked for many years as a consultant in damage assesment with the insurance and auto makers industries. And he LOVES the FJ! Well built all around. As far as the Consumer Reports is concerned he was not surprised the FJ got a bad review. He told me that politics are high now to push the failing american auto industry. I'm not saying that a stock Rubicon should not have beaten a stock FJ. But a Jeep Liberty beating out an FJ in Consumer Reports? He laughed when I gave him that bit of news. I will not repeat what he told me but basicly he would not touch one. Politics, Blah Humbug!

Thai! I did not mean to offend you, I appologize if you took it wrong, I am not here to start a fight. I just got bored with the FJ....I do not claim to have financial hardship..Every vehicle that I have owned has been problem free... and yes you can make $$$ on cars..all major dealers make booko bucks on the used car end. Otherwise there would not be a market for car dealerships to sell cars!

Re: Rubicon beat the FJ for 4x4 of the Year???

There you go again...what are you 12 years old??!! Well, if it works for you and your family, then good. I guess that the government these days is generous with passing out food stamps.

And as you can see, i am not bias towards any one vehicle. I like them all...i am one of the biggest fan of the Rubicon. But unlike you, i try to make sense in what i am saying even though i am not a car expert like you.
