I would want an original looking radio. And I don't like that you can see wires under the speedometer cluster.

Regarding the radio, do they make original looking radios that have a "secret" cd unit? Just curious.

Re: FJ40 with leather

Is it orage or red? I can't tell. Naaaaa, I'd repaint it tan or voodoo, I'd probably keep the leather, wouldn't pay extra for it, but would keep em until at least the dog tore em up!
And I agree, needs a retro radio and if you want a cd, place a 6-pack hidden one somewhere.

Re: FJ40 with leather

Shame it's some kind of pearl orange... lotta work and money for a dubious end result.

I have considered recovering my seats in leather, although not prissy-clean taupe.

I wanted to see if I could get some aged, distressed leather like old bomber jackets, but decided against it because I think it would have looked too out of place with the black dash cover and tan soft top.

Theoretically, leather is as good a choice as any of seats that are gonna be exposed to the elements... cows have been wearing it outdoors for a long time.

Or you could go old school landrover and throw some elephant hide on it.

Re: FJ40 with leather

That ones a bit "tarted up" as the brits would say. I wonder if the elephants used for the hides on the old Landys were shot from the hood of a ,Land Rover??? or perhaps it was a Land Cruiser because the landy was in for a ring job.
