Arrow Cayenne

In response to my new AWESOME KILLER RAD FJ my buddy just bought one of these. The specs on it seem to say its a decent off roader, has a locker in the front which is cool...

Re: Cayenne

I don't seem notice any pic on their site of it going up any rock ledges or anything of the sort. It also seems like it would be nuts to take a high $$ SUV off road.

Re: Cayenne

I think those are for hauling ass with kids, dog and lots of crap in the back. I think if you want a sports car but need the room, this is a good choice.

Re: Cayenne

They may be great for offroad on the paper, especially with PASM. But in reality, it is almost impossible to to find decent (all-terrain) tires for them because all of them come with 18"-21" low-profile high performance summer tires!

They are superb on the road though, it's really a different kind of SUV. Once you have driven one, you will know it is like nothing else on the road, it drives better than most sport sedans Yes, I have one

Re: Cayenne

I recently bought a Black 06 Cayenne Turbo S as a DD. It hauls around my snowboards and mountain bikes. Drives excellent in inclement weather and snow. Drives like a true sports car in the dry (well as close as a 5000+ LB vehicle can anyways). And acts as a 2 Pug limo. Its safe, solid, and has been problem free so far.

And it hits 60mph in under 5 secs.

Re: Cayenne

Too rich for my bloodline and fortunes...or lack thereof.

However, to me a it ruins my image of what a Porsche should be. I suppose that Porsche could not resist to dip into the SUV hysteria

fivestar13,

I agree. And you are right, it was all about the money for Porsche. Pure financial decision. It is a good vehicle that possesses many of the Porsche trademarks, but I would also have preferred them to stay out of the SUV market.

However, I guess if it wasn't for the Boxster and the Cayenne there might not be a Porsche anymore?

Re: Cayenne

I had an opportunity to drive the turbo version, sure puts a smile on your face , handles great, seems like 0-100 in about 6 seconds, just floor it and hold on.

Re: Cayenne

We don't have the Turbo S, but we do have a turbo. Poster above is correct, on most models (S - Turbo S), the smallest wheel is 18". This is due to the massive 6 piston front brakes they put on the cars.

The funniest part of the off-road capabilities is that they have been coming with Michelin Diamaris tires, which are Z rated Summer only tires.

Living in Colorado, I ditched those last September and put on Pirelli Scorpion M+S tires. Good enough for any ice-slippery road, but not good for any gravel and worse type trails or unbuilt roads.

FJ Boarder, I see you have a cayman S. I test drove one of those and had a great time. Very nice car!
