New Lexus LX 570/Land Cruiser Reveal

From the NY Auto Show this morning, the Lexus will be revealed, but as we know it's essentially the same as the upcoming Land Cruiser. Starts at 10:55 PDT...

Re: New Lexus LX 570/Land Cruiser Reveal

Ok, I watched as much of this video as I could handle before having to turn it off from hysterical laughter.

How did the folks back in Aichi, Japan allow this bumbling pudgy announce and reveal this vehicle? I haven't seen someone stumble over their words so much since Porky Pig got his first eyeful of Petunia. At one point he actually called the LX570 "Versatable".

Also, was anyone else annoyed beyond belief at the characterization of this ride as "able to get you to your favorite ski resort, or private back country fishing lodge, and still provide the comfort you demand...."? I suppose it's just my class envy, but anyone working hard to make their FJ payment isn't going to relate real well to this b*#*$@^t. This stuffed suit also referred to the LX's "true rock crawling ability". That took the cake. The only rocks these will be rolling over will be if some owner drops one of her diamond solitaires in the parking garage outside of Barney's.

Give me a break. When the revolution comes, the folks driving these will be the first to go.

Heh, I was thinking along those lines. Plus, what's up with the hair?

The upside is that it will depress current gen L/C and LX even lower than $3/gal. gas, making a low miles '03+ (best years, IMO) LX available for around $20K.

While I agree in reality most Landcruiser / LX570 owners won't be getting their vehicles dirty, don't underestimate the vehicle's abilities. I've owned most landcruiser models, and they ALL do well off-road - that's where their rep comes from...

No doubt. It's the packaging and target demographic that makes the statement so ridiculous.
