The biggest shame is that when you buy an H2 (or H3 for that matter) you are basically buying the supposed reputation of Hummer and you expect it to hold up based on all the advertisements.
I saw a new H2 on the dealer's lot last week . . . $68,000, and it wasn't even pimped out ! Considering the weight and ultra-crappy mileage of an H2, it should be built a little more beefy.

True...if you are paying 50+k for a vehicle that is marketed as a "off-road" vehicle then you'd expect them to over-build them, not UNDER-build them.
But then again, the exec's deep down know that the majority it's being sold to is for weekend warriors and Soccor-mom mall crawlers. So why eat up their profits building it stronger. The average wife won't be breaking a tie rod or axle in the Macy's parking lot. lol...
Sucks to be that guy...anyone who ever had a break down on a trail knows just how much that sucks. Especially if you realize it's something you can't fix on trail.
For a while there i'd always carry around an extra axle in the saddle bag (Avalanche side compartments) just in case. That's usually the first to break with 300horses...
