I would like to add that anyone who takes there hummer wheeling is ok with me because they are not wasteing it on the street.

Ditto-At least he didn't pop his tie rod in the mall parking lot hitting a curb...THAT would be a funny video!!

If anyone has anymore offroad carnage videos with parts flying at high velocities, post e'm!

What will his excuse be??
He doesn't need an excuse. This was all drivers error. Thhis could have just as easily happened to an FJ or any other vehicle.

This same video is used over and over again to show that Hummers 'are crap.'

I would say if there were even a dozen similar videos that may make a better case. Every time someone says H2s suck, it is this SAME vid to prove it.

How would we like a vid of an FJ's transfer case stuck in 4lo played 500x on Youtube? Or the plastic bumpers falling off? Live and let live I say.
Exactly!!

Seriously, all the Hummer bashing on this forums is getting really old. Firstpeople bash them cause they never see them on the trail, and that they have to much bling. Then they see one wheeling, and they still have to find somthing wrong. Ya, so what if he broke on the trail? Could have happened to anyone here. Had he had a better spotter, and less speed, he would have been fine.

I'm just waiting for the video were som pompass FJ driver gets stuck, and they show an H2, or H3 towing him out. I've been whheeling with both hummer variants, and both have there strong points, and lows. The H3 will go absolutly anywhere the FJ can. Believe me, i know.

Re: Hummer taken down by a few pebbles

I will say I looked at a parked H-2 yesterday that had it's wheels locked fully to the left giving a good view of the front suspension components.

While the short drive shaft & CV joint looked solid, the tie rod looked like it was no thicker than 1/2 an inch. Pretty wimpy for such a large/heavy vehicle.

Re: Hummer taken down by a few pebbles

I've seen the video before but unfortunately I've seen several similar videos and this is a failing common to the H-2 and deals with weight of vehicle vs the strength of the components. Could it happen to an FJ - yes. But it's less likely. After what I've seen, I'd be reluctant to take an H-2 off roading but they're ok off-pavement.

The H-2 isn't an H-1, but it claims to be by virtue of heritage.

And though the H-1 built and loaded is a $150,000 problem, it's still very cool!

But I drive an FJ and could buy 4 or maybe 5 FJ's for the price of an H-1. And one day in the dim and distant future when I'm on my 6th FJ, I'll slap my forehead and said, "Darn, I could have had an H-1!"

However, If I could afford an H-1, I'd have one!

I will chime in on this.

I was in Sturgis for most of the last two weeks, and only stop by here occasionally anyway. (they censor here)

I know the guy that did that. It was a Rookie mistake, he knows and admits that. Tie rod and too much gas.

What I think is funny, is how many Hummer hate threads you guys have. (looks insecure)

FJ's are ridiculed on Hummer sites also, but they never have nearly as many threads about FJ's going on, as you guys have Hummer threads.

Here's a pick from my camp spot in Sturgis, my H2 is behind my bike.

I wouldn't know. I don't feel I have to jump onto the Hummer boards to defend the FJ. I'm here for 2 reasons,

1) I have an FJ

2) I have an FJ

Re: Hummer taken down by a few pebbles

I will wheel with anyone that shows up and can keep up. I'm not a Hummer Hater, I just think that the FJ was a better vehicle when it came to buying. My point is that I'm not on the Hummer boards spreading my FJ opinion.

Re: Hummer taken down by a few pebbles

I just feel like wheelin. I will roll with anyone who wants too. I have visited all the boards and know the sentiments. I would for one like to be above the bull **** and onto the dirt. I just know too many cool folks who have alot to offer And drive different rigs.

I dont own an Hummer and i dont own a jeep, so i cant really offer an educated opinion on those rigs. I do love my FJ!
that is all.

This is just a guess but I have been on here for a long time. Most of the Hummer hate threads you speak of seem to be started by trolls looking for a fight. Most folks seem to not care what you drive as long as it gets dirty from time to time.

Its easy to sign up and talk **** then run away. I have seen that happen many many times. Since you don't see it all that often on the hummer sites its probably cause folks with FJ spend more time wheelin'

Re: Hummer taken down by a few pebbles

The above is outright incorrect. MOST of these threads are NOT started by any trolls....

Truth be told, they are started by bigoted FJ owners who knock most anything that isn't Toyota....and we even have threads knocking other Toyotas saying the FJC is the best.

You may not want to hear it....but there it is.
