Me likey Victory. The vision is a little too spaceship-like for my taste though. So many toys, so little time.

Since I've seen a good number of people on here with bikes I thought I would share this. For those of you who can't understand why we would want to do it perhaps this will help.
The day I read this I went out and jumped right on my bike. It was 34 degrees...totally worth it.
Make sure you drop me a PM next time you're in town. I live about 15 mins from the entrance to the Gap and would love to ride with ya.

Nice Monster! I'm still trying to decide between a S4R S, 848, or a Sport Classic for my next Duc. FYI, I have the same Desmo Badge upgrade for the FJ.
If you are going the naked Duc, you might want to wait until the new monsters are out, which should be really soon. The 696 will be first.

I didn't know that you were that close. I'm planning a trip this spring with some of my buddies and it would be great to have a local to show us the way around the Dragon...

This is exactly how I feel about my Multistrada. They may not be much in the face, but boy are they great for the long haul and carving the twisties. When I went to the Tail of the Dragon last year I put 1500 miles on the Multi in 3 days. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a Sport Touring bike check out the Multi. We have a lot of R1200GS converts Personally, I think they are both great bikes. I was sold on the soul of a Duc.
Man, if I could just learn how to adjust those valves myself I might think of a multistrada! It's the high maint. cost's that keep me off of a Duc. The Beemer twin is an easy bike for the owner to maintain. The Duc looks as confy as my GS though.

Glad to hear someone else had problems w/the K1200RS. The dealer kept claiming that it never happened before and, when I complained about it on the K1200S owner website, the other Beemer cultists just couldn't accept the criticism.
Given my experience with the K1200 and given the cost of the GS, I'll still probably go w/the ST1300. It's a little vanilla, but I like the lines, the bags are huge, there's a huge owner group and lots of gadgets available for STs and they don't cost that much. I've never had a problem w/any Japanese made bike nor any Ducati.
Also nice to hear about your first ride experience w/the Honda Hawk. A couple of my friend's had one, but I was the only one w/a Scrambler. Guess I had a taste for dirt even then.
The IBMW web site is one that I tried to hang with but I found it to have too many "Roids" on it for me. The 1200GS web site is much better!
Didn't mean to run the ST1300 down, just not the bike for me. If you get one look into the Aeroflow wind screen, it does work very well as compared to stock. I know that Honda products give good long service with few if any problems. There are a bunch of after market products for it because there are a lot of guy's riding them in the Iron Butt Rally.(Paige also does the art work for the rally each year.) Hopefully you will be able to get back on two wheels soon!
Even at the age of five I knew the difference between the Hawk and the scrambler! My uncle was a wannabe bad a$$ biker guy, but never bought a Harley. It didn't matter I got on that thing EVERY time I could!
In my motocross day's(73 - 79) I rode a Penton 125 six day(73), A KTM 125(76) and an Ossa 250 phantom. Those were fun day's! I sometimes would like to get back on a motocross track, but I would most likely get hurt REAL bad and I don't heal at 47 as well as I did at 13 - 19 years old! I KNOW that super cross would kill me!

Ducati has actually gotten a lot better with this. They just reduced the service interval by 50%. I have the 620, which only has 2 valves. I also change my own oil, so the service costs don't hit me as bad as they could.
The 696 is pretty sweet. There are a lot of people getting upset over the changes that were made. I think that will change once they get a chance to see it in up close. I really hope they use the engine in some of their other products, i.e. Multi and the Hypermotard.
As for the Tiger, I have my sport touring bike. I will be looking to expand my capabilities with my next bike. Most likely that will mean getting the 848. I really want to start going to track days. The Multi is very capable of this, but not designed for it.
For all of you Dragon fans, here is the video I put together from my trip, all 318 turns.

I love the new changes to the Monster. I never could warm up to that huge headlight on the old one.
Now for the Tiger, I thought you were looking to replace the Multi, not add another. Wa hoo! Then I would most definitly go for the 848 or the 1098 if you can spring for the extra cash. There is one more that will give the 848 if not the 1098 a run for it's money and still be a V-Twin and a bit exotic....the Buell 1125. With it's new Rotax mill it is quite the performer. I've ridden Buells in the past and never liked them, but we just got a new 1125 at our dealership here (Smoky Mountain H-D, HOG Dragon Chapter, make sure to stop in there, very nice shop), and I think I'm going to take it for a test drive this weekend. It's got the looks, that's for sure.....
