Prius Looses MPG race against a BMW Diesel!

I have always said one of Toyota's few failings is their complete refusal to bring their equally good diesel technology to the US in vehicles like my 4Runner, their new SUV's like the LandCruiser and Sequoia and ever their cars. Maybe they will change their minds now!

Re: Prius Looses MPG race against a BMW Diesel!

I agree. My wife drives a VW Passat diesel and it gets great mileage. The problem is diesel here is just below $4/gal. Its crazy how the "Big Gas Co's" can inflate things to make even more profit...

No surprise here. Any diesel fan could tell you there are any number of small diesels already in use (that don't meet the US air quality standards yet) in Europe that would make the Prius take notice.

Diesels are the way to go. They are so underrated here in the states it makes no sense at all.

Check this one out teh hybrid is now were close to it.
Loremo AG 157 mpg Diesel

Its also very cool to see all the diesels starting to race and there doing very well to.

Re: Prius Looses MPG race against a BMW Diesel!

Well the 123d gets 54 mpg and puts out 201hp/290tq. So it gets better mileage and it's actually fun to drive. Hopefully it'll be here soon since we finally have the ultra-low sulfer diesel available nationwide and the newer diesels can actually meet CA standards.

Makes sense to me.

Diesel exhaust gives me asthma. A lot of people have this same problem.

I'm thankful that the EPA has finally leveled the clean-air playing field for diesels versus gasoline powered cars and trucks.

you might wanna stay off highways, expressway, and stay home in general

did you notice those big cars with 18 wheels? millions of them around with ANCIENT diesels powering them

"technology" in those engines is about 30years old, that **** might make your asthma worse, not new european diesels....
