My buddies new Jeep JK unlimited already broke down!!!

So here's how the story goes. Shortly after I bought my FJ, my buddy got the bug also but I think he ended up getting a virus instead. He had some weird obsession with a Jeep JK. I tried to talk him out of it and into an FJ but he just wouldn't budge. Anyway, I helped him get a deal on one because I'm a good friend but told him I didn't approve. Since then there's been alot of back and forth like,
"So George, the Jeep still runnin?"
And I got responses like "Dude, did you turn into a girl yet?"

So today I give him a ring just so see what was up but George seems a bit quiet.

"What's up dude?"
"Uh, nothin, I'm just hangin out"
"Where?"
"In the parking lot of my last client"
"Uh why?"
"I'm waiting for someone."
"Who man, is everything ok?"
"I don't think I should tell you, you'll make fun of me"
"Dude, what's the deal (lightbulb goes off and I start laughing at him)"
"Shut up man, I knew I shouldn't have told you."
"ROFL, what happened?"
"Jeep won't start"
"What's wrong with it?"
"I don't know, tow truck is on the way"

Anyway, long story longer, this is the 2nd time he's had problems with it in all the 3000 miles he's put on it (all street by the way). The first time around the entire weather stripping fell off of one of the doors.......it just fell off! Anyway, he's currently waiting at the dealer to find out what the deal is. Just thought I'd share since I've been laughing since.

By the way, so you all don't think I'm a heartless a$$, I did offer to go get him and check it out to see if I could help.

2 Weeks ago I was at Lake Pleasant with the quads and some friends and ran into a TJ that probably had $30k in extra's on it. Had 30,000 miles on it. Wouldn't stay running because it kept blowing fuel pump fuses.

What do they make these things out of..........paper machae?

Re: My buddies new Jeep JK unlimited already broke down!!!

UPDATE!!!!!!

The dealer tells him they are aware of the electrical problem and are working on a fix. When......and they said when it happens again, lift the hood, get into this fuse box, disconnect this fuse for 3 to 4 minutes and then reconnect it. It should start...........are you kidding me???!!! Aaaahahaha!!!

I'd be so pi$$ed if I had just spent $28k on this thing.

Come on, anyone that has owned a CJ can tell you that those things break down all the time too. A 1981 CJ-7 was my first vehicle in 2000

To be fair a few FJ have had starting issues. Not that Id choose a Jeep over a Toyota, but Yotas arent perfect.

I'll give the Wranglers credit for being good off-road but that's about it. They are cramped, uncomfortable, etc, etc, etc. I wouldn't mind having a 70s model or an old Scrambler though.

Re: My buddies new Jeep JK unlimited already broke down!!!

A buddy of mine had a CJ-7 with a 304 4bbl in it back when we were kids... We took it on a road trip once and for laughs we checked the mileage and it hit a high of 11mpg......LOL....It was a standard ....a three speed I think???? We were gone for five days without doors or roof....One of the most memorable trips of my mis-spent youth...lol
