1979 FJ40...What are Your Thoughts?

I saw this for sale in town. I know the guy who sold it to the current owner a few months ago for $800. The new owner was asking $1500, but told me today, he would take $1100. I know nothing about it except that the engine was recently rebuilt. The owner says the carb needs work and the Alternator belt is "iffy". My girlfriend has always wanted an older FJ, and wants to eventually work on one. I'm adding some pictures. What I want to know is what do you guys think? Is this worthwhile, and how much would you pay?

If you are just gonna drive it and mess around with it its fine, but if you want one to fix up to a decent standard you better start looking else ware. that one will cost a small fortune to get it back to it once was

Re: 1979 FJ40...What are Your Thoughts?

If you were to invest the time and money to get it looking at least half-way decent, I would offer $750. With the amount of rust on it, I would not offer any more. That is just my two-cents worth. I would love to buy something like that and work on it on the weekends, but I don't think my wife would like it too much. I spend too much time on my FJ as it is!
