I would go look at it in person and at least make sure it has a decent frame to attach new parts to, even if its only going to be a trail rig. The fact the guy is listing it as a parts truck should give you a clue as to what kind of shape its in.

Before you buy it just to 'part out', if you have a significant other, you better get permission, save yourself some pain and suffering

My significant other wont care but the parents sure will when it shows up in their driveway for the summer

True that, with very little work you could turn around and probably sell it for more. For 4 bills, if you just got it running that would sell for at least 2000 here.
