Jeep Rollover on Hell's Gate, a few years back

OK, so forgive me if this is old and everyone has seen it. Made my stomach turn. The guy who had this posted up on his website says the girl driving came out with only a bump on the head, and lots of Jeep damage. Roll bar probably saved her a lot of pain and suffering.

OUCH! That spotter didn't really look like he was doing his job right. Looks like it was a wrong que and then an over reaction by the driver.

I'm glad the drive was OK.

actually I see the spotter pointing hard right and the jeep just keeps going left and up and over and over and over.

10-4, I watched it again...wonder what happened/trying to figure out the thought process when the driver started to go up like that. You think someone popped the clutch?

I prefer how Trailbus overcame and conquered!
His video still makes me want to buy him a beer!

Re: Jeep Rollover on Hell's Gate, a few years back

Personally I think a hand held CB or a GSM-R radio would be better for the spotter and driver to communicate at times like this that just waving of hands.

With the spotter speaking, it could give much better information than just waving of the hands. Especially when the spotter is also waving at the winch person. Then the driver could listen, turn driver or passenger, a little more or a little less, you are coming up to the hump, easy or very easy, etc, etc, etc...

The driver could be watching other things and listening to the specific things the spotter says.

Plus it seems at times the hood of the FJC comes up so far that it is hard to see the spotter.

IMHO

Spotting using a cb is much better! That is usually how we try to do it!
