Re: What is this?

Looks like diff or transmission breathers. Have you traced the tubes?

Re: What is this?

looks like a catch can... I'd guess axle/s I had a rear ARB locker that sucked oil up the air line.... had a catch can so it didn't spray round the engine bay... nothing this flash though, just an old juice bottle.

It has one copper line that goes in by the valve cover. It's hard to see with that plate in the way.

Re: What is this?

what is inside it? It's hard to tell if the breather looking thing on top is connected to the can thing underneath.
it could be a breather, it could be a catch can. It could be both, or something else.

Re: What is this?

It's not a catch can. It is plumbed into the intake portion of the manifold. You fill the container with diesel fuel additive thru the large silver knob and adjust the flow rate with the spring loaded needle valve located at the left of the container breather. The breather allows clean air into the additive resivior so the bottle won't collapse. The additive flows thru the copper line into the intake stream to clean /lube upper intake components. Additives similar to Stanadyne diesel performance formula. Hope this helps.
