my 02.cents if you wanna go fast buy a race car and hit the track!
Having had the SRT8 Charger and still have my SRT8 Magnum both these cars haul ass same as the SS Camaro will. all 3 of these cars are more car than you need.
some one is always gonna have a nicer faster toy...I think im bobby big balls when im rolling the AMG around town untill i pull up next to a F430 or a Gallardo then I feel like nicky no nuts.
bottom line is get what YOU like not what other people like or what the rags tell you to buy.
both are great cars & you will enjoy both!

Well, here's my question. While the Camaro has much better suspension, and better interior, and imo, better looks...is the Shelby GT-500 even worth considering in comparison? If I got a Shelby, I'd be getting a 08, which would be sold around 33-36k, I could get a Camaro SS2, fully loaded leathered up, for that price brand new....so I'm trying to see where exactly the Shelby gets its price tag, if not just for authentic value. Heck, for 35k you could buy a Camaro SS super charged that would destroy a Shelby GT-500, so why the heck is that car so expensive?
Seems like you have your heart set out for the Camaro, personally I'd choose a Shelby- No the suspension is not better just different, if you are into drag racing anyone would tell you GT500 is the way to go because most if not all of drag racers use solid rear axle compared to the IRS in the Camaro which is good on circuits- which one will you be doing most is the question.
Secondly the GT500 comes with a very mild conservative tune- add a few basic bolt ons and GoodBye Camaro even with a supercharger and its a fact.
Come over to the Team Shelby site and see the numbers for yourself and lets not get into the capabilities of the Shelby 5.4L 4V cast iron block that is holding power up to 1000HP- The engine itself in the GT500 is like $17K that's why the high price tags, used ones are being sold because of the people who bought early with ADM's of like 60K and can't afford it now. One more advice, do not listen to Motortrend those guys favor anything but Ford products and never, ever buy new-slighly used with 5000 miles and under is the way to buy any car, see how much the price drops and you can have more money for other mods. There are a slew of after market parts for GT500's and mustangs period which can not be said for your other choices but if the stang is not your choice, I'd go with the Chally, it just looks sexier than the Camaro. Good luck and drive them all and see how you like them.
They are all kick ass, not one I wouldn't own if I could afford it. As far as which out performs the other, there's always someone faster.
Buddy of mine has a supercharged Trail Blazer SS. I love that SUV, it's fun to watch the guys in Mustang GTs on the freeway think they are going to walk all over it. The look of confusion on their faces as they cram the skinny pedal into the floor, watching him pull away is priceless. Perfect sleeper if you ask me, you wouldn't think a big ass SUV could move that fast.
Knowing that, if I could only have one, I would take a new Stang, a Roush Stage 3.
You're going to be driving it, I say go with the one that grabs you the most, I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Well, the reason I was commenting on the Shelby, I love it, but I know 0-60 the Camaro has beaten it, reason is, Camaros suspension design and extra reear weight helps it keep its tires grounded when you accelerate, however past 60, the Shelby gains traction and the supercharger winds up, and it's over. Modications was a big thing..there really aren't any out for the Camaro yet.
Another vehicle I was looking at, was the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8, with the 6.1l Hemi 0-60 in under 5 seconds, it's designed as an SUV to give Corvettes a run for their money...it's even faster than the Challenger, yet has the same engine.

Dude, did you read what I wrote before about the LS3? Every mod that applies to the C6 Vette applies to the Camaro engine. Cam, tune, and headers will net you another 75-100HP at the rear wheels. The headers alone are worth about 30HP, so if they're not being made for the Camaro yet, that's still a significant gain with the cam and tune. At that point, it's just a matter of IF the Camaro drivetrain will handle it.

At under 5-second 0-60 times, that Jeep is giving an awful lot of vehicles a run for the money. Well, until it's time to turn or stop. Still a cool niche vehicle though. I am sure the much lighter Camaro/Mustang/Challenger/Corvette would fare MUCH better in the MPG dept. however...
