FJ Rolled
We decided to break the FJ in and go off to this area where there are some herds of wild horses. It's just a dirt road nothing that serious... but we ended up rolling 5-6 times. We were driving along when we had a blowout slid and then rolled.. it's kinda a blur it happened pretty fast. Everyone is ok just banged up really bad.
Ok the fireman in me must say; the A pillars and B pillars did pretty good but you got some serious speed to do rolls like that. The terrain you were in was dirt and shrub?
Anywho, thought for sure I would see some of these in the ditch/median here in the mtns during snow storm but now I can see what they look like rolled.
Airbags go off on the roll or did they stay put? They should have stayed put.
Did you think it rolled easy or just got away from ya?
Glad everyone is ok.............its like I tell my patients on scene..."its just a car or its just metal and rubber.........your alive".
So, you gettin another one and what will you be doing different?

Re: FJ Rolled
One question... I understand why our front airbags didn't deploy but aren't the side airbags roll dash sensing curtain airbags? Is it normal for them not to deploy during a rollover?
Initial impact and roll was towards the driver side...........passenger ok? 90% of the time people stick their hands out the windows to catch or brace themselves, everyone got all ten fingers and toes?
Sorry for the double post but I keep looking at the pics and seeing different things.
You can tell the windshield did its job for lateral stability. If that glass wasn't there you would have a lot more intrusion into the passenger compartment.

Re: FJ Rolled
We were only going 35-40... not too fast... just remember talking and then Ben said OH **** and we spun and I remember spinning backwards and sliding backwards and then the next thing I knew we were flipping.
Well, thats why I initially asked if they went off cause they are in fact side IMPACT not rolling.
I've seen quite a few MVA's where the vehicle lands hard enough on one side to pop off the the side impacts but its because that side gets slammed into the ground, not because of the actuall roll.

Re: FJ Rolled
My husband and I are both medical (lab) (radiology) so we know the basics and we checked each other out at the crash site and then had to walk about a mile before someone picked us up and met the ambulance on the main road... I was the passenger and my head got banged up really bad and my neck hurts. My husband got some cuts on his head from glass and is pretty bruised up too. We were able to walk away from the crash so I'd say we did pretty good.
Do you happen to know the inflation pressure of your tires at the time of the accident? What kind of tires were they? Is the cause of the blowout known?
