G'day Helmut,
I would have loved that, but the Mrs had other plans .... haha

Rented a F250 v8 diesel 4 x 4 and toured around the island ... but no off road ...
Sorry I didn't mention it... she wanted a "romantic holiday"
Stayed up at Tofino at the Wickinesh Inn ( spelling) lol ... walks on the beach etc....
flipping cold up that way ...
Cheers

OC, that is awesome!! I collect and restore tube radios from around 1920-1945. I have always wanted to build a tube powered home system!
The older speakers have a better construction, sensitivity and sound quality due to the "lower power" tube amps of the day...I laugh at that since when I was 16 and heard a Conrad Johnson amp that was a mere 40 watts a channel (nothing I thought compared to my 100 watt solid state amp from Marantz) through a pair of Klipschorns .... Holy beejesus! I thought my chest was going to cave in!!
Ive been hooked since.
They isn't anything made today that sounds this good without spending close to 10 times what I spent on these. The La Scala is a unique looking speaker but is one of the original folded horn designs now employed in many PA speaker systems.
The amp is a custom one off made by the owner Sid up in Canada. When I called him about it (I bought it used), he knew exactly what it was. Crazy considering he built it over 10 years earlier. Love to sit in my listening room at night and watch those tubes glow purple....
This is a great idea guys,, loving all the great photos,,one question how do I post pics? Any help would-be awesome!
You can post pictures by clicking the little yellow box with what looks like crude mountains and what I'm assuming is either the sun or the moon. A small window will pop up with a URL field. Just paste in the URL of the location of a photo and it'll show up when you post.
I took a couple more shots yesterday while driving in from Vegas. I'll be somewhere on the east side of AZ in a couple weeks with a couple friends. Looking forward to getting some shots of places I haven't seen before : D
