Wheeling photos in Borrego Springs

Day was plagued with problems... first my buddy's trailer receives a flat... plug it, inflate it... drive 20 miles and it's dead... off to tire shop... replaced and we're on our way.

First trail Calcite Mines was super short and not very techical but was still fun. Approximately 2 miles from the trail head and did not require atrac or locking the rear. Find the right line and the FJ had no issues going up.

Following that we had some fun high speed runs on washboard and some soft sand...

Fast forward to the last trail the day (Coyote Canyon) and we finally hit some technical stuff that took some spotting. Stock the FJ is incredible, glad I had the better skid plate because it found some use. My friends were really impressed with the stock FJ's abilities.. can't wait to start doing some serious modding and getting just a little bit more clearance and rock rails to worry less about the rig.

Going up the FJ in manual makes for a fun challenge when climbing larger rocks to avoid stalling while not climbing uncontrollably... coming down makes for an even more interesting challenge while braking and crawling.

buddy's built pathfinder loses an oil line =\ luckily at the end of the day.

Re: Wheeling photos in Borrego Springs

Calcite took 20 minutes, coyote canyon took 2 hrs... MUCh longer, and much more technical with a fun but easy water crossing at the stream.

Definitely need clearance on the tough section going up the mountain.

frogeye, Coyote is a good beginner run. I think we should take the boys and girls there on the 28th. it has water crossings, sand and a brief .5mi technical climb, wild horses, big horn sheep and spring pools at the top. Good for beginners in stock FJs. I've done it in 2wd. Then hit the slot if time permits. Sounds like you are bringing the grill(s).

Re: Wheeling photos in Borrego Springs

that .5 technical area is quite fun

great area to snag pics because of the big boulders that surround it to climb up on

as you can see, i was a mountain goat from some of those picture angles
