Dog barrier installed

After lots of searching I finally managed to find a dog-barrier that I am happy with. Only modification required was to remove a small piece there the sub-woofer sticks out. Great thing with this dog-barrier is that there is no pressure on the seats at all, allows the beasty a comfortable ride and actually makes packing stuff in the back easier. In the event that we want to remove it, it’s five minutes to take it out.

It's a Kennel-Aire KA 640 that I got from Petsmart for $70. I went to the store and tried several and this was the only one that fit the curved shape of the FJ consistently all the way. Other thing that I did differently was to zip tie the pieces togethor instead of using the suplied brackets (affected visibility too much).

We tried him with a "doggy seatbelt" on the backseat without much success and he is a hooligan in the front so it's to the back for him.

Re: Dog barrier installed

I think dogs prefer the trunk over the front seat because they can lie down, although my dog also enjoys a good rush of wind in his face too. My dog refuses to sit in the trunk of the Xterra, since he sat in the back when I learned to drive a stick.

Re: Dog barrier installed

My dog doesn't get a vote. New car = back of the bus. This looks great and I'll be following your lead. Now if only I could fence off the subwoofer and the amp on the other side.
