West Eglin Wheelin Weekend

Got all the camping gear together and headed out to West Eglin AFB for some wheelin' fun and some peace and quite.

You come across interesting stuff in the outback of Eglin AFB.

When we finally arrived at the meeting spot I found one of the group off by himself about to attempt something foolish. So I went to get some help when he stuck his 1500 mile Wrangler X in the mucky stuff.

Hooked up with the usual band of hooligans and had a blast! Some of the guys have true beater trucks and are absolutely fearless.

Lost passenger window and door access during this bit of nastiness...

...but he's grinnin' like a fool because he finally gets to use the BRAND NEW Warn winch he just got for $500!!!!

Then he was off to "fix that approach line"! Which he did.

Then we were off to go find our spot for the night. Can't get much better than this...

Nice weekend spent with good folks.

Nice! I used to go to Eglin on dirt bikes on NVG's by the moonlight! You should try to head down to Ocala for this weekend and join our Central FL Cinco camping trip. K

You don't know how bad I want to, BUT, wifey has other plans for me this weekend. like finishing the trim around the wood floors I put in a month and a half ago...

Nice shots...love to land at Eglin AFB for my last assingment, but there is always 20-30 vols everytime a Chief slot opens up there.

I think I saw you headed east bound on I-10 while I was headed west bound
(1100 to 1200ish on Sat). However, I wasn't driving my FJ. I was helping a friend return from FL after picking up a slide in camper for his truck.

You were looking good with the bed roll strapped on top!

Nice pics from your trip.

I'll have to look at wheelin over there. It looks like fun.

Try for KBIX. Close enough. Casino traffic isn't too bad. Besides, I need another FJ on base!

I actually was born in Ft Walton while my father was stationed at Eglin, go to visit dear old retired dad there every september. Now it looks like I wil have to bug you for a day of wheeling when I get down there.
