Went off-roading at Haspin Acres Offroad Park (HASPIN ACRES) in Laurel, IN. It was my first time at this park, and my first chance to take my FJ off-roading!
Here are some pictures of the FJ in action on some mild trails!
Articulation:
The infamous mud hole:
The approach
Sliding into the main part of the hole (where I didn't want to be)
Stuck
Un-Stuck
I was really impressed with as stuck as I was, the FJ got out of this hole without a tow!! Have the video..will upload soon!
The truck sunk a bit deeper in the rear as I tried to get out...here is a pict of the water line. Door seals did a good job!
Re: Off-Roading @ Haspin Acres - First time in my FJ!
When did you go there ? I'm only 15 miles south and it's been dry as heII here for months. BMThiker broke in his FJ at Haspin last year and he's definitely hooked now . . . and I would guess that you are too.

We were up there this past Saturday (9/8). It was dry on many of the side trails. The main "super highway" trail had a slick layer of clay, but we didn't find water until we went into some of the less travelled areas. After that big mud hole, the ruts started to get DEEP. We eventually had to turn around and come back through.
I'd definitely like to go back again at some point, but a big group would be nice. I was amazed at the number of dirty looks we got....although I made an FJ believer out of one group of quad riders! They watched as I buried my FJ, and proceeded to lecture me on how an expensive truck like this doesn't belong off-road....and then I drove out of the hole

Cool picts! I think I saw those before actually, when promoting our trip last week!
It was dry in many areas, but a slick layer in many others. It made some of the narrow trails with slide slope very hairy...I had a few moments where I thought we were going to slide into a tree on the downhill side.
Another casualty of the wet conditions....$15 in quarters at the DIY car wash, and it still isn't clean (undercarriage mainly)!

That's "briar country" up in those hollars fellas. You know, rednecks, hilljacks, whatever you want to call 'em. Watch it if you hit the backroads as there is plenty of no-good in those hills . . . raising pot, making meth, etc. Banjo music country and that little town has a rough history back to the 1800s. A few years back I was driving through the town and noticed a couple of kids fighting in the gutters of downtown, just beating the snot out of each other, and it looked like half the town was standing there watching.
