The FJ is good for donuts, i did not want to push hard beacause my FJ is almost new but I did some donuts. I was in 4x4... in 4x2 the VSC did not like this kind of driving! I need a VSC off button! [YOUTUBE]

What about sand? It might be smooth when you first go around, but it'll soon have ruts.
Sand has more of a tendency to give than rutted dirt or thick gravel, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem unless you really dig yourself down on one side or another with too much momentum.
Safe power/acceleration skids ("donuts") are a happy medium between controlled power application and limited (smooth) under-steering.
There's the issue of under inflated tires and the possibility of losing a bead while doing such maneuvers. I've seen some pretty deep ruts in Pismo. I guess I'll keep my donuts to a minimum and preferably to mud.

Looks like fun. I saw a few people doing this at Pismo. I've always wanted to try, but was always afraid to break an axle. Is that a concern?
This brings to mind something I have been wondering? I had a wrangler with a Dana 35 rear axle and 27spline. Does anybody know what we FJer's have in the rear/front? I have read through all my literature and may have overlooked this. any help?
