Re: The Brotherhood/Sisterhood of the SANDSTORMS Thread

Hello Brothers and Sisters,
Cheers to great color choice Toyota!
I acquired an '08 Sandstorm in 03/15/09 with 4x4,AT, Offroad Pkg. I really like this rig. The FJ is still completely stock except for some rigging on the roof rack for a bike mount and a ski rack.
I am planning on some sliders, skids, 3" level and new 255/85R16 tires all in due time.
So far, the FJ serves well in getting to the high trail heads in Colorado it has been tested on a few trails here in Colorado and in Utah.
I wish i had a better pic, however, I've attached on one from a ski/mountaineering trip up to Castle peak early this summer.

Regards,

Chris

Welcome to the Family, Chris.
Great color choice, indeed.

Thanks for the pic, too. We love to see other brothers' and sisters' rigs.

So....I may be wrong about this, but why are you thinking of getting 255 tires?....wouldn't that effectively lower your rig (stock are 265)?

I know that with just a leveler lift on the front, you probably can't up it much, but I'm even thinking of putting bigger tires (hopefully 285 if I can swing it) on mine next year, and I don't even have a leveler lift or anything (just the body mount chop; which was necessary to accomodate the zero offset of my after-market wheels).

Just curious.

I hope you hang out here. I think you'll enjoy it.
I look forward to seeing you out aroudn here sometime too.

255 only refers to the width since he is using 255/85/16 these are 33" tires. So they are taller than stock but skinnier.

Indeed.
I see now that it's actually ~1.5" taller.

Thanks for the clarification hh.

Fairly well. The nice Colorado sunshine came out and melted a bunch for us yesterday. I took a sandled hike through 2' snow yesterday (forgot boots in other vehicle, feet all wet, oh well) and got some neato photos of ice cicles and stuff.

How's it down there for you guys?

Re: The Brotherhood/Sisterhood of the SANDSTORMS Thread

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will certainly post up more pics as they become available.
With the recent snow up here and worn out stock BFGs, my lift and tires will be happening sooner then expected.
